Description Made this out of an old Altoids tin. Had so much fun making this. Used some craft gears, somw actual watch gears, resin, a piece of bismuth, some random bits of jewelry and clay.

Oooh look at that, that’s awesome! A steampunk paint container is EXACTLY what you need! Cool work. Is that a picture of a little steampunk space station on the screen there?

Ohhh, asteroid field, navigating through an asteroid field sounds like a good steampunk story/scene.

So what would this tin b in the steampunk world? Would it be like a remote?

Kind of like a tricorder.

Ohhh ok, that makes sense! It does look like it would make a neat tricorder kind of thing. It can scan for painting inspiration.

The bigger ones I got at the local craft store. The smaller ones came from a jeweler friend of mine. He just gave then to me.

Yep. I did one awhile back that was almost identical.....but it broke and I didn't do the resin right. Had to do another one. This one was a success.

I never got into painting, but someday, I should buy a little sketchbook I can pack around.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2018-04-20 13:19:46 +0000 UTC]

I hadn't before. But I was wanting to add color to my sketches and watercolors were portable. Much more so than all my markers. So I kind of gave it a try out of necessity.

Ah. I tried watercolors when I was younger but didn't like how they weren't exact.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2018-04-20 22:19:54 +0000 UTC]

Agreed!Β  I had a few sets of watercolors people gave me when I was younger and every time I would try to use them I would get frustrated because they never did what I wanted.Β  Only recently have I discovered two secrets.Β  You need a thick paper and how long you let the previous stroke dry before adding a new color makes a HUGE difference.Β  The more I play with it the more I like it.Β  But I can see why it is a cause of many headaches.
