Description Continued from [link] this is the final drawing that I submitted to the contest. I was pretty happy with the ship, feeling that nicely combined a non-aggressive aesthetic that evoked both the Enterprise-D and Voyager. The indent and various palettes at the front of the saucer were intended to be the location of various experimental scientific equipment, as well as the indent on the bottom. I'm proud of my torpedo launchers at the front of the saucer. I wish I had gone with a slightly different impulse engine setup, perhaps in favor of a second shuttlebay in it's place. I'm also a little embarrassed by my level of skill (or lack thereof) at Illustrator when I did this, as I was still in school at the time. I may take a turn at correcting this into a more refined version.

You'll also note the small captain's yacht craft at the bottom of the ship's saucer. More on this later.

This is nice... I like that it's less militaristic then designs of late. Cool stuff !!

Great starship design; too bad it wasn't used for the book covers.

I really looks to fit in between the Ent-D and Voyager.
It is a design I can see along side them in the fleet.
Very nice to see one of the other designs from the contest.

Thanks very much. It's a big fleet after all, so I'm sure our two ships could be fleetmates even if the better man won.

It's obvious to anyone with eyes to see. Hell, it would be obvious to a person with one eye ....

How very flattering of you.

I'm not trying to flatter, thou it may seem so to you and others. I'm merely stating what I see in your gallery and what I don't see in the other.

Hell, even your sketches and figure drawing is better and more original ...

It sure is a big fleet. or atleast it was before the events in the Destiny Triology.

Well I couldn't do this but it's a great design. It reminds me of the Nova class ship with "thing" right under the regristry number. If you do redesign it, my thoughts would be with the nacells. Move them up, or make them "movable". But like I said, I couldn't do what you did so great job!!!

Thanks much!

It's funny, the Nova was actually a direct influence since it was supposed to be very science-oriented. I played with several different nacelles and nacelle configurations and still wasn't totally happy with this one. I obviously wanted them to be seen from the front and wanted to bend them down, but it didn't really feel like a 'hero' ship if it didn't have nacelles up. I also thought about mobile nacelles but didn't want to plaigarize Voyager.

I have often thought of what I would do if I actually did a redesign. If I were redesigning the Titan itself, I would like to take the approach of making it the Nebula to the Sovereign's Galaxy, although I would change a great many details from the 'final' chosen design. It would still have a sensor pod, and overall the shape would be based on the Enterprise-E but the styling and details derived more from Voyager and the Enterprise-D.

If I were redesigning this particular ship design, perhaps as something else entirely, I would probably bend the nacelles down and use a slightly different style of nacelles. I think my desire to make this the 'Enterprise-D lite' ended up making it seem older than it should have been.

You're welcome! I don't know if you are like me and have seen everything Star Trek ever made... You could keep this your top design, and then modify for other named ships. (I.E. The Enterprise-D with the third Nacelle and forward photon torpedo launchers, and LaForge's Galaxy class ship). So maybe you could make several, I think when they built Voyager, she was three of the intrepid class starship.

Just more thoughts

I think we are very much the same, in fact.

That's a very good idea.

I think this is an awesome concept ship, reminds me daresay of the Insignia class, though smaller?
