My interpretation is that this is an anubid mortal who just happens to live in a modern-day Egypt-style setting, not Anubis himself.
EDIT: I was right, Anu is indeed a mortal. Possibly a private priest of the old time religion like T'Challa?

Goodness, this fellow has a beautiful profile... Excellent design both in clothing and physique! I love the little details like the shirt buttons and earrings, and the scene has a lot of great touches as well with all the little statues. The shading and coloring look great and natural as well... I just love this picture from every angle! Absolutely gorgeous
