Description Chishio's Journal Entry 002
Today was quite the exciting day...
A while back, I had been assigned my first dragon egg. The egg was an odd green color with splotches of brown, and yellow spots. Really, it was a rather hideous looking egg. Come to think of it, now it all makes sense....
I left the dragon egg in the dragon nursery for quite a while, checking on it daily to see how it was doing. Truth be told, I had never felt so excited about something in my life, except perhaps my journey to Berk from years ago. Daily, I would gently touch the egg, feeling the great warmth radiating from it. There were times I feared touching it to feel that it was cold, which would mean a dead egg, but I was grateful to find that each time I touched it, it was warm and well. My excitement grew with each day at the prospect of training my first dragon, and, between my battlefield training sessions, I did all that I could to be around the egg. Apparently, it was a good thing for the intended rider to be present at the hatching, as it helped to imprint the dragon hatchling on the person. I wanted the dragon to see me first and foremost for the imprinting to take place. But, all I could do was wait.

I lost track of how many days it took, but I remember I came by to check on the egg. I touched it gently. It was still warm as ever. I breathed a sigh of relief. After making sure there were no duties for me to attend to in the nursery, I went to leave, only to have something catch my attention from the corner of my eye. I immediately knew that my dragon egg was in that direction. Quickly, I glanced over, watching it curiously. Had it moved? I inched closer to the egg, watching it intently, hoping that I had seen something happen... But, nothing. I sighed, slightly dismayed, and I turned to leave again.
"Chirp!"
Spinning quickly on my heal, I looked back at the egg, having distinctly heard a "chirping" sound from it's direction. The egg was still intact and still. I walked toward it and placed my hand on it's bumpy shell once more. It was still very warm... Then, I felt the egg bump just slightly. My excitement grew: it was going to hatch! The head of the nursery said it should be any time now, but it was getting late and the nursery needed to be locked down for the night. I offered to take the egg home and watch it there, to which the fellow viking agreed as long as it stayed warm. Quickly, I wrapped the egg in a cloak and carried it home, all the while the egg was bumping and chirping along.

After using an old manger to build a hay-filled nest with, and starting the fire in my hut, I finally felt I had a nice cozy place for the egg to finish hatching. I laid it gently in the manger and stood back, watching it intently... But, suddenly, there was no more movement, no more sound. All was quiet. I sat down in a chair, watching the egg, waiting for something - anything - to happen... But, it was getting late and my body was tired...

"Grrrrawwwwwrr!!!"

Leaping to my feet, I went to draw my knife at the horrific sound only to realize it wasn't on me. I had hung it up with my other weapons! As I glanced around for the source of the sound, and an easy weapon to grab, my eyes fell on the wiggly tail and legs... of a baby dragon! The dragon had hatched! I smiled a the little creature, who was laying on it's back, kicking off the last of the egg shells left on it. "Well, hello there," I said gently as I knelt down next to it... them. It had two heads. "Ah, you must be a Hideous Zippleback, then... That explains the egg a lot," I laughed. I reached out to gently stroke the head on the right, but she promptly reached out and bit my finger causing me to snap my hand back with a yelp. "You'd better ditch that attitude," I grumped. The other head was looking at me from below a piece of eggshell. Slowly, I reached over to pop the shell off. "Are you gonna snap at me like your sister?" Surprisingly, not. The left head was quite gentle, and allowed me to pull the shell off of her head, and proceed to stroke her chin. She was rather easy to get along with... But the right head quickly butted in, starting a quarrel with her sister. The two... er, one... bounded out of the manger and through the hut, weaving in and out of everything as the right head, the more dominant one, snapped at the left one who... seemed to be enjoying it as if it was a game.

"Oh, boy... This one is going to be a handful...."

Aw, thank you! ^.^ Honestly, it's been nice being able to be more active again. xD

Haha, yeah, I felt the same way when I found the HTTYDragon-Grounds group last week. I didn't realize how much I truly enjoyed HTTYD until I found the group and became inspired to draw more of that fandom, and I'm quite enjoying it.

Thank you! So good to hear from you again! ^^
