Description
Jisei (辞世): a poem written during one's final moments.
Incomplete I am
For you, my flower, are gone
In heaven we'll meet again
Comprised of stars and moonlight
My blood will stain the earth red

It has been a long time since I drew Sakuma and Taira Hakuryu. Too long in fact. I was inspired after listening to a beautiful reading of Japanese Jisei at university as part of Cultural awareness week. As such, I decided that I was going to collaborate with one of my friends in my Uni's Japanese Association to learn how to write Jisei. As such, we came up with this poem, supposed to be written by Sakuma and left at Taira's grave as he went to confront her murderer.
As such, this piece has been entitled Jisei in a symbolic reference to the piece of poetry we wrote together for Sakuma's final goodbye. This artwork took me almost 27 hours to complete from start to finish. I almost want to cry over how this came out. I think it is beautiful. But i never want to draw camellia flowers again. Too many flowers.
