This is creepy in so many ways. I absolutely love it. I like how you used just a few colors, and the movement of your brush strokes. You manage to have an ethereal feel, yet still have such detail in places. I'm impressed with the symbolism of the snake, I'm not quite sure what it implies, but it is a nice touch. You have wonderful painting skills and I enjoy this deviation very much. You are a fantastic painter!

Thank you very much for such a thoughtful comment! I was happy with the colours here, I decided them in tiny thumbnail sketches in coloured pencil, which worked out well for unselfconscious decision-making + simplicity.

The snakes sort of came about organically, I did another a bit like this with a lion. When I had my daughter I lost a lot of blood and came close to death. Also, when she was new I had a lot of very primal fears for her, which I think is quite common. So the snakes are kind of that primitive threat which was genuinely there for me and which I felt acutely at that time.

Ive visited your gallery, I think you do wonderful work. And yes, those fears are quite common when babies are new. When they're medium. And even when they're old. lol

Thank you so much! I'm not sure I'm going to do much more to this one, I kind of meant I'm going to do more paintings about my birth experience. I worded it confusingly. These potentially have a lot of emotional clout for me.

I find your gallery honestly one of the most beautiful I've seen on here, and, well I don't really say this often, but I hope one day I can observe and express my life as you do with your art. The drawings you do of your baby are so raw and revealing and it's really refreshing for me to look at your work because from what I can see, you're so prolific so it seems like art is a huge part of your being. And I am in love with your style and the way you sort of... oscillate between such loose lines and then tighten it back up in the details of the faces and such, making it really fluid and expressive but also controlled, in some way, if that makes sense!

Heh, I'm glad I stumbled upon your gallery! And of course, you're welcome XD

Thank you, that's one of the nicest comments anyone has ever given me on this here internet. I am honestly grateful that you took the trouble to write it, and that you thought those things in the first place. You're a kind person.

It is quite a big part of my being.
