ChocolateQuill — Why I Don't Use 'Skinny' Poses on Chatlands [rant]

Description So yesterday, on chatlands, I was asked the following:

Cyberry, why do you mod poses to make them fat? That's mean to skinny girls!

I would like to make some things very clear:

First: I do not hate skinny people. Come on now. I'm an advocate for body positivity, which means all body types. What I am doing is adding body diversity. And secondly, I am not modding anything to make it 'fat' (so what if I was?). Not skinny does not automatically mean fat.

But then why do you refuse to use skinny anthro poses? Or ones with long wavy or scene hair?

Simply? Because my characters aren't skinny. My main ones, Indigo and Velocity, have my own body type--which I would describe instead as having a little "extra pudge" while still being generally fit and in shape. My body type even without label is just thicker. I have a smallish waist with moderately sized hips and a butt as well as substantial chest area. As such, I feel weird putting my characters in body types that are NOT that.

On the hair subject. I have an afro, therefore Indigo and Velocity have afros.

But why do you gripe about not being able to find anthro poses to your liking?

Because there is a culture that sonas and anthro lineart need to have some combination of skinny body, 'thick' legs that are perfectly toned, perfect stomach/ab area, perfect breasts, perfect butt (size of the last two varies, thankfully). I don't feel the need to pretend my body is something it's not. I want my fursona to be something that truly represents me, rather than an idealization of me.

So you're just trying to be different!

Er. I guess if being myself means i'm trying to be different. Yes. Bring on the afros glasses and pudge.

Which, guys, really isn't as uncommon as it seems. I am by no means the only one who has body diversity in their anthro art. Go look--it's out there. But specifically on chatlands it seems to be either 'perfect body' or superfat.

You're a hypocrite! All your poses are thick! So you DO hate skinny girls!

Tee hee! Wrong again. Cyberry is thin, flat chested with a round butt and extremely toned legs. She has no extra hair on her head but if she did it would probably be brown and a pixie cut. Pathogen, differently, is your typical thin with perfect body. She is meant to be alluring but also has no extra hair. If she did, it WOULD be long and wavy/curly.

If you find other examples of body diversity on chatlands, then let me know. Link it below.

Aw, I think you should be allowed to have whatever pose in most rooms. We on CPI allow non-cat poses in certain rooms and private rooms.

Yes
I rarely use poses on chats anymore.
I am not thin, and possibly never will be.

I really dislike some of the poses i've seen people make.
They're so thin and just... no.

I think for some that's they're style. And they're good at it. And some bodies really are that skinny. I'm more angry at the notion that that is the only thing taht is pretty

You are one of the main reasons I edited so many characters in Dissension to have more unique designs. And I love my new designs much better<3 From thick and curvy to twiggy and flat.

;o; I feel flattered. Body diversity makes things so much more interesting (and relatable)

I love poses that are thick, my fursona is actually thick too because I have an average body type and I actually prefer thick and pudgy poses more than the skinny poses because I think the pudgy poses look cute and awesome 💛💙💜💚❤️

Woo! Pudgy power! But I'm sure your "average" body type is pretty too!

I guess but I'm just saying that there's not enough pudgy poses. This is my favorite pose zumikosan.deviantart.com/art/F…

ChocolateQuill In reply to OfficerLumi [2014-04-19 18:13:36 +0000 UTC]

That's very true, though that's still not exactly what I would call pudgy. For me it has to have the stomach area not be so flat XD

Lol I see, but I think the legs are pretty pudgy though I think

Omg! So many body types! I love themmmmmm.

I think it's best when fursonas represent who you are (even if it's something deep inside). So that's cool that yours represent you ^^

Yeah that person was ignorant and rude x3 thankfully they went away.
