Collage of the great Army of Darkness movie starring Bruce Campbell. Bruce's expressions in those films are priceless, I am a big fan of his and next plan a Bubba Hotep collage. The is really mixed media I suppose because I used pastels, but primarily colored pencils on velour paper.Related content

Do you start with a pencil underlay and then build up values or do you just jump right in with the colored pencils?

Yes, I usually cover faces with a solid light flesh and build upon that. I use liner pens for the black details as well. Lately since I have been using Copic markers I will lay down a light lemon yellow and build flesh tones upon that.

Bruce Campbell movies are probably...the best way to sum up my unorthodox childhood. I've seen (and loved) a lot of B-movies in my day, and Army of Darkness is probably number one on my list (a close second to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and Forbidden Planet, hee).
Actually, I take that back. After Rocky Horror Picture Show -- then comes Army of Darkness (but only because how can you go wrong with Tim Curry dressed in drag!).
This is a GREAT drawing, you really nailed it! The color scheme works wonderfully -- and really represents the movie well. I also love the composition, *adds to favorites*.

What an awsome drawing, you really captured the characters of the movie. Army of Darkness is one of my favs. Bruce was also great as Autolycus in Xena. I did Bruce as Auto in colored pencil (berol prisma colors my fav to work in) but I like your drawing better.

You just love to draw all my favorite movies, don't you. I love it. Bruce Campbell is great, I hope he gets his breakthrough movie some day. I suppose I'm the only one who considers this movie more on the side of a comedy than a horror.

As long as Sam Raimi is directing films he will always have a paycheck, I think he might be getting a little old to become the superstar he should have...but I hear another Ho-Tep movie is on it's way...

Yes, I think I saw him recently with some gray in his hair, but I still like him. He's like Leanord Nimoy- yeah, he's old, but no one's ever gonna forget him.
