Being cannibalized does seem more shocking for the victim, though I doubt there is little real difference... if such a thing as chomp trauma could be measured!

Well they can measure bite force, though even that can be tricky. Supposedly the hyena has the strongest bite in the animal kingdom. Great white shark is a contender for that throne, though it's partially subjective because it's teeth as much SHARPER than a hyena's.

PS this blew my mind, but hyenas are actually felines.  I had always pegged them for canines, but it turns out they're just a good example of convergent evolution.

Hyenas are crazy for sure. As for bite force translated into actual perceived agony, I imagine being chomped by attackers of similar size feels about the same. The delicious differences are in frequency, duration, savagery.
