it would, truth be told i hate the language....like a lot of irish people my age...it was really forced down our throats as kids, but we use a lot of it in day to day expressions trough habit

oh yeah you are a youngster but i feel your pain i had Ukrainian crammed down my throat.
when i was in ireland i only heard it spoken by very few people and mostly in small towns. i remember this lady working at the gas station said something in gaelic and then added in english "f*** americans" behind my back (ouch).

what part of ireland was that...if its in the midlands...forget it, i wouldnt be to offended by people whoses family tree does not branch...if you get me

choney25 In reply to The--Baron [2009-07-19 00:08:43 +0000 UTC]

hahaha (i'm rolling on the floor laughing).

shannon was the point of arrival so it was a self drive tour of clare, cork, kerry, limerick, kilkenny, and Tipperary. all in 10 days. to be honest a lot of people were very rude but i can't say all because the people that were nice were super nice and went out of their way. one thing i will be eternally grateful for to ireland is for pushing me to be a vegetarian

what??? us...bad rep??? i have no clue as to what you are referring to i know most of europe hates us too. i totally understand why the world has such a bad view of us. it just feel awful when i try to be very nice and respectful and people still hate me. i did not vote for "w" and i don't approve of anything that happened so why hate poor little me??? (take a deep breath) it's okay i learned to deal.

so you blew the absoulute crap outa the middle east.......big deal they have been doing it to each other for years....

i used to work in dublin city centre, on grafton street in a mac store, what i found people found annoying about some people from the US is that, they would not take NO for an answer and that they would be insulted at the price of things????

on the whole though i found most of you guys on the level, esp from the west coast, although this one time i was dealing with this group from alabama to say i restrained myself was an understatement of the year LOL

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

choney25 In reply to The--Baron [2009-07-19 00:34:10 +0000 UTC]

west coast is the best coast. i'm from the west coast so obviously
i know what you mean. i've seen that myself and was totally appalled by the behavior and i always walk away thinking "this is why they hate us so much. they give all of us a bad name."

dublin is a huge tourist destination for americans i bet you get "the good, the bad, and the ugly". i feel bad for you so next time you get some a**hole tell him "this is why everyone hates you." but only if he deserves it, be nice to people that are nice.

you're funny, i love it.

from california...that is an automatic awesome right there (can you tell i'm from there). I'm just happy there are people that are representing for us in a positive way. the morale of the story is a**holes are everywhere.
i'll drink to irish wit (i did a lot of that while in ireland and i don't even like beer)

yeah not a lot to do here but drink...im a tea totaler myself, never got into drink, alcoholism here is a HUGE problum, but they wont put that in any brochure....they reckon 4 outa 10 irish people are binge or functioning alchoholic's....thats pleasent morning talk eh!!!!! well its 10 in the morning here,

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

choney25 In reply to The--Baron [2009-07-19 18:45:29 +0000 UTC]

well 8 and half hours later and it's 11:30am here. what do you talk about in the morning? if it's not depressing well it's just not morning.
yeah, i can picture the brochure now "ireland welcomes their alcoholic brethren from near and far. come one, come all. we have booze."
(all joking a side) when we toured the Middleton Distillery our tour guide kind of alluded to that and then she added "even our cows are drunk."
ukraine and russia has everyone beet though. it's pretty bad because people turn to alcohol out depression. there are times when people don't get paid at all at work or if they do they receive payment in form of Vodka.
what kind of tea binge drinker are you? are we talking about high grade stuff?

yeah lyons tea...green label no less...when im really on a mad one....like today....because i just sent my book to a publishers so here hoping, i have barrys tea...red label of course....what would the neighbors think???...scandalous, i have a couple of friends from russia, and they reckon ireland is about vis a vis for the gargle with them. but seriously there has been huge changes in ireland in the last 15 years and we have the highest suicide rate in young men in europe but our standard of living is quite high! i pin it on the soup!

yeah i read that you are trying to publish your book from your website. that's great! i hope it goes well (don't hit the tea too hard you don't want to be in a tea comma).
wow high suicide rate? why? is ireland changing for he better?
irish and russians will drink anyone under the table. i've seen, oh the horror.

well after my tea bender last night i went to take some shots and ended up being drowned like a rat over in baltray, never seen a rip tide move that fast

it wont get me again...as the old saying goes......fool me once....ill set your house on fire!!! or something like that!!

yeah ireland has moved from a very conservative country to a very liberal country(European definition!) and that is not a good thing, were abandoning our socialist roots and heading right wing faster than you can shake a stick!!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

choney25 In reply to The--Baron [2009-07-21 00:31:01 +0000 UTC]

hahaha...since you are typing back i'm guessing you got away alive . no i think the saying goes something like this: "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice i'll break your knee caps."

you conservative you. it takes art to bring a conservative (you) and left wing liberal (me) in harmony

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

The--Baron In reply to choney25 [2009-07-21 20:27:24 +0000 UTC]

a conservative???? i will have you know madam....im a socialist....and at times ive been accused of being a communist......and the odd time a satanist.....but the thats for the courts to decide.....if your a liberal by the european defonition that probaly not a good thing....that would make you just short or a fascist but im sure you mean the american sense where if you dont OWN a church and a gun your a feckless Rouge liberal, who hates good and wants to set the consitution on fire....that kinda liberal???

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

choney25 In reply to The--Baron [2009-07-21 21:39:47 +0000 UTC]

my bad mr. socialist. satanist? you are stilling my thunder. i'm known as the devil (by a church and damn proud of it too ). i get asked if i'm a commy all the time, as soon as people hear i'm from ukraine.

i think we both have different ideas. liberal for me stands for the same ideals no matter where they are, it's about individual freedom and rights. i think government has no right in telling people how to live their personal lives especially when it does no harm to others. sometimes i think i'm a flower child who was born in the wrong time.

who said i don't own a gun???
so to sum up: communist left wing liberal democrat who may or may not own a gun

i on the other hand have was expelled from school, wasnt allowed to sit my exams...your equiv i think is SATs we call it aleaving cert and have been kicked outa to university's for my opinions......and eh well actions!!!

but there is a lot of neoptisim and corruption in our education system, thats tolerated by EVERYONE because "thats just the way it is??"

but each time i got kicked out they had to let me back in....becuase article 16 of our constitution states that every citizen has a right to education!!!

i think in the end you were the winner there. they keep kick you out and you just keep coming back. you showed them my tea, binge drinking, friend.

corruption in education??? what? never heard of. haha i dare you think of an area where there is no corruption. i bet you'll be scratching your head for a while.

post men!!!! the post men here are really down to earth and very obliging, i secretly think it could be for serveral reasons

1. the exercise they get everyday

2. out in the fresh air

3. they have lots of time to contmplate there life

4. there having an affair with half the estate!!!!

any of these reasons is my opinion!!!

you are so lucky to have such hot postmen. all we have are old men or old ladies. i'll take a pass. here the postmen are bitter and rude. we also have a saying "Going Postal" that is used when people go crazy and do something really insane like shooting up a McDonalds. the use of word "postal" is for a reason if you catch my drift.
