I checked out the original board game (yes it is a real board game). I heard it's one of the worst board games in existence.
Basically, kids would put in the tape and each time they'd roll a color-coded dice and move around the board. However, the board goes in a complete circle and does not end. Instead, they have to roll the same color as their player piece (pretty much making the board useless), and each time they land on one of their color, they get 1 part of a Cheese Jigsaw Puzzle. Each player had 10 pieces to collect in order to win.
While doing it, Rap Rat would shout out to the players to have them say stuff and would act generally annoying, all while eating a big piece of cheese. It would take him 10min to finish the cheese, and if none of the players collect all the puzzle pieces before he finished, they'd all lose.
But the chances of rolling your color 10 times to get the puzzle pieces, the fact that it wasΒ extremely difficult to do it all in 10min,Β Rap Rat's nerve-wrecking lines and voice,Β the uselessness of theΒ board part, and lack of anything else, made the game absolutely terrible, and even most little kids wouldΒ find it either not fun or creepy.Β
Perhaps the curse is what made the game so dumb and unbearable.
Also, the other board game mentioned in the Creepypasta, "Nightmare" was a real board game too, believe it or not, and it was indeed by the same designers.
