Description
Based on Haitian VODOU (VOODOO) mythology.

He is also often called BARON SAMEDI.

Papa Ghede is the corpse of the first man who ever died.

He is not good or evil.He is a psychopomp, a spirit that waits at crossroads to take the souls to the afterlife.

You can also spot him in the cemetery digging new graves , sometimes at the hospital waiting for people to die or at churches after a funeral.

He guards the road between the world of the living and dead and known everything that happens in those worlds.

He also knows all about the past and about what will happen in the future and he can also read minds.

Ghede has the power over zombies and decides whether or not people can be changed into animals.

People who practice such black magic prays to him.

He wears a pitch black coat and a high hat and is said to be a glutton for spicy food and can drink a rum so strong that it would kill a normal human and he also loves cigars.

Ghede is said to be a real clown that loves pranks and has a vulgar and gross sense of humor and has also a horrible temper.

Surprisingly enough he is also a protector of children.

He does not like to see children die because they need a full life.

So when children are sickly or dying Ghede is the one to pray to.

I made this sculpture in clay when I was sixteen years old.
