Description From the Thunderbirds episode, "The Uninvited" when Thunderbird One is shot down by a terrorist group called the Zombites.
One of my favourite episodes and seeing TB1 shot down is a dramatic moment. Theres also a lot of action, awesome villains and Pyramids.

Had trouble making this scene interesting as it looked dull on its own. Went for the Mirage effect and quite like it, also helps get the heat of the desert across.

Have just returned from the Cinemagic awards ceremony, we lost, so I kind of feel like Scott here hanging out of the window/door thing, but ah well, just got to kick ass next time.

Made in Vue 9 and Photoshop

Imagine someone being stranded in the desert somehow and they see that and because of the heat they forget the fact that heat causes hallucinations and ran up to it thinking "this is amazing this can't be happening" and then it ACTUALLY is real lol

Β This is a great piece! I can see the energy, the need to land and make it out in one piece! Β This is the stuff I grew up on!

This sorta reminds me of one scene from Star Wars: The Force Awakens where you see a Star Destroyer crashed on Jakku in the background... it has that same sorta "clearly out of place" feel to it.Β

Excellent! I watched this episode recently, as part of my boxed set. I like what you've done with the haze effect. It would be interesting to see a crisp, in-focus view of this scene, too.

Cheers, the reason for the haze effect was that the in focus one looked pretty dull, pretty much all you loose is Scott hanging out of the window

Shame about the Cinematic awards. I'm sure you'll kick ass next year.

Pretty nice job on the mirage effect. It works very well.

I love the Uninvited. Great episode.

Wow, stunning work as always! TB1 looks so real you could reach out and touch it. This is how it should have looked in the episode, the focus is spot on perfect, making you question whether or not you're seeing things. Odd that they didn't choose to apply a similar effect in the episode itself when they used mirage effects later in the story. 11/10, and I tip my hat to you sir (if I had a hat, that is)

This is fine for it's composition and color value if it was a present day subject..but this is a sixties show with a set of very different color values.
The shows at that time were shot with a film that had major lighting issues due to its low ASA, hence the subject matter be it human or model had a far more intense color value.
The blue on the hull together with the base silver needs to be pushed by at least thirty five percent and the sand needs just a tad more yellow..

Other than that nice job..and the depth of focus was greater due to the need to open up so to be this out of focus was near impossible

Hi, Cheers for the tip
On your first criticism id say its pure artist's prerogative, I love the look of the show but I also love bringing it into the real world because i want these things to be real.
On your second, a Macro lens would achieve this effect, or a high grade camera with a macro setting. Simply focus on an object in the foreground and then remove the object
But as always I appreciate the constructive criticism.

"Slow down, Wilson. You've gotta treat this sand with respect" "Hey, what was that?"

This looks like the hi speed pass they made the first time.

Really like the blurriness, gives it depth.

Cheers , yeah that was the idea, having the model without the depth of field looked a bit dull

Amazing This episode was Scott's finest hour, i nick named this story "Thunderbirds Vs The ZomBites" and i still do. You never fail to do exceptional work. Keep up the good work old chap.
