I'm new to photography, and have lots of questions. I was wondering, If you have a shutter speed of 30 seconds, a medium sized aperture, and such a fast film speed, how is the photo not washed out with light? Was if really dark?

At the time of taking this picture it was actually extremely dark. The sun had gone down behind the trees so there was little light.

Usually i just use the manual setting on the camera but this time i was just messing around and was on shutter priority. I just put the shutter speed right to 30s and let the camera decided on the aperture.

The ISO speed is actually medium, the camera can go to about ISO1200. If i had used a slower shutter speed then the image would still have turned out because the camera would have used a smaller aperture number (larger aperture) to compensate however this would have lowered the depth of field.

I hope that helps, if not feel free to ask me anything

No problem i just hope that it has helped. It all depends on the camera how high the ISO can go so it can vary. If there is anything else i can help with just let me know.
