I love how peaceful this photo feels. It seems like every childhood memory of summers on the lake that I ever had, all wrapped into on photo. So lovely.

When we first moved here I was so afraid of the bears that sometimes come to visit, but now I can't imagine living anywhere else!

I have learned that the bears around here will run from you if you just yell at them, they are hunted a lot so people are not their favorite, we keep all the pet food inside our shop so they don't get real close to the house anymore. I am truly grateful for the chance of living where I do, it's almost a 2 hour drive to the closest city but that's a small price to pay to live here.

One of the guys I used to work with is an avid bear hunter, he said that 1700, bear tags were filled this year, the estimated bear population is around 5000, just in zone 7 hunting area, I like to hunt but I don't hunt bears and I only hunt deer every other year, I eat mostly venison and not much beef, so I only hunt when the meat is getting low.If it has been a very hard winter or a dry summer I don't hunt at all. Part of what I love about living up here is the wildlife, I so don't want it hunted until you don't see any.

I suppose as long as the right balance is kept then its not too bad. Its just a shame when an animal gets hunted so much it becomes extinct in a certain area.

I just hope the fish and game department doesn't let areas get over hunted, conservation has to work both ways, overpopulation isn't good either, most hunters want a balance that is good all around.
