So I've been following the Dissidia Aces buzz, and it looks like a lot of fun! So I figured I'd enter the preliminaries! The link is here: [link]1st Choice: Celes Chere (Final Fantasy VI). I know her costume looks like I did an original design, but it's actually based on an amano sketch found here labeled "Chibi Celes 2": [link]
2nd Choice: Rydia (Final Fantasy IV). Her design is based on the Japanese box art of the DS remake found here: [link]
3rd Choice: Selphie Tilmitt. Since she's a Nomura design, her artwork is really consistent. So no reference pic necessary!
Medium: Pencil on sketch paper, then scanned and colored on Photoshop with a wacom tablet.

[[EDIT]] Woo! So Prelims are over, and it's official: I get to represent Celes! This is basically super-awesome because Celes and Rydia are basically tied for my favorite characters. I also love Adelbert Steiner, but drawing that armor? No thank you!

*laughs* Yeah, not too many people seem to love the Amano-fro, especially with all of the game's re-releases. Her hair is now super sleek and perfectly styled, but I've always been a fan of Amano's design where her hair is just plain intense!

Oh, it's lovely! I love Rydia's wild hair. She's everyone's favorite green girl.

Rydia's hair is my favorite! I always liked the idea of her hair being wild or magical since Amano made it a scribbled afro. And I suppose she is only barely the favorite green girl since Terra goes from green to blonde!
