Wooo! Here's one of my contest entries for this month! is hosting a contest that ends this Friday! The theme is your favorite scene from the Final Fantasy series. So here's my choice: Celes propositioning Setzer for control of the Black Jack!

While it's not the most climactic moment in the game, I personally *love* the exchange. When the Maria-Decoy plot basically goes awry, I feel like this is how Celes would have originally wanted to gain access to the airship: taking charge of the situation, acting independently on behalf of the group, and appealing to Setzer's gambling addiction by rigging a bet with a two-sided coin (the one Edgar used back in the day). As an added bonus, her one action causes Setzer the hope of marrying an opera singer look-alike and gives Locke a panic attack that he'll lose the girl he thinks is hot. I think it's a great balance of character motivation, plot development, and humor! And creative license: Celes is still in the ballgown for my picture because I didn't think it made sense for her to be taken captive and immediately have a change of clothes.

And...this is a little bit of indulgence in my old favorite pairing which was Celes X Setzer. I do occasionally imagine what would happen if it weren't a two-sided coin and the crazy life Celes and Setzer could have as gambler and prize-wife. But now I'm totally a Celes X Locke girl!
