I suppose it's a bit of a case of semantics really. We are the light of the world, but it's not really our light, it's Christ's light in us. His image, portrayed through His body. Apart from God I would have no light to offer, so really it isn't my light, it's His light in me, or a reflection... Although a bit more than a reflection in a sense as it radiates from the inside...
