"Sami god damnit!" I cussed out loud as the yearling once tried to snatch the leather lead out of my hands after he just gave up on nibbling on my shirt.

The buckskin popped his head up, side eying me as I glared at him. My uncle chuckled, still intrinsically grooming Crystal. "Told you he'd be a fun one."

I rolled my eyes and popped the leash again as Sami once again to tried to dig his teeth into literally anything. "Oh hold kjeft..." Our number was called.

"Good luck!" Marko yelled over the palominos tall back, adding a quick thumbs up. On my way to the arena I quickly positioned the chain correctly, praying that the yearling would understand it was show time now.

Luckily, he seemed to do just that. He finally gave up on biting everything within his reach and took in the arena, ears forward. "Behave." I growled as we lined up, anticipating quite some antics.

Sami's ear flicked to me for a second, before fixating on Chris who was finishing up his score from the previous competitor. "Ikke til og med tenk på det.." I let out a hiss and flashed my fiancé a smile before beginning the pattern.

We began at a jog through a box before making a right hand turn around a marker, up to a gate. Sami luckily stopped right next to the gate when asked to, even though he was still fixated on Chris who was even trying to hide so I had the colts full attention.

I opened the gate and asked him to pass through it, luckily with no problems - so far. Regaining my position next to his head, we moved onto some elevated poles at a walk, making a serpentine to a second box of poles.

Halting and then completing a quarter turn to the right, we walked back out of the box and after some poles were in front of the bridge. Sami wasn't a big fan of bridges so he tried to snake his way around it initially, but luckily followed me over it with just a bit of wiggling.

The young colt promptly began trotting afterwards from the release of tension and lucky for us, it was what the pattern called for. Making a left hand turn over two level poles we jogged straight into the chute.

I moved in front of him and asked him to back out which he did with little to no fussing. Sami hated back ups, his preferred direction was certainly forward - and that fast.

A smile snuck onto my face as we did another 90° turn and walked over four poles to complete our pattern. I halted him at the end marker and gave a curt nod to my fiance and the other judges before dropping the leash and getting the colt out of the arena.

Sami was prancing next to me, earning a few chuckles from the crowd. "Show off." I chuckled but patted his neck, fidgeting to get the chain off.
