Trouble and I just stood by the gate on along rein, already having finished our warm up and now just waiting for our names to be called. The Palomino was calmly looking around, occasionally swatting some flies with his tail.

I still couldn't believe we made it to round two, yet I was stoked about it. Yawning, I took my feet out of the stirrups and stretched a little as I looked around, checking out the other competitors in the warm up ring.

The suddenly cracking speakers startled me. "Next up we got Marko Thomasson on RR Looking For Trouble, a Rockin Rowe Ranch bred 2015 stallion." Taking that as our cue, I gently tapped the paint forward and we made our way from the warm up to the arena a few metres away.

As soon as we entered the chill stud suddenly perked up upon the sight of the cattle at the far end. "Easy bubba." I chuckled softly and ever so slightly lifted my hand as he swiftly walked through the deep sand.

I checked once again where the timers were set up, before approaching the herd from the right hand side - doing the deep cut first. The cattle wearily moved away as Trouble entered the herd with his head held low.

We split off quite a large group calmly, before singling out a greyish heifer and driving it a couple metres away from the herd. As soon as I felt we had enough space, I dropped my hand and removed my feet, telling Trouble to get to work.

The stud dropped low into the sand, almost entering a staring a contest with the heifer. Luckily, the turn back riders coaxed the cow into moving, causing it to rush to the left.

Trouble dashed to the same side in response, throwing himself around on his haunches as the cow changed directions as well. I held dearly on to the horn, something my niece lovingly titled as the "Oh Shit handle".

The stud kept on working the heifer effortlessly as the seconds passed, but just as easily quit the cow when I saw that we had finished our first 30 seconds. Rolling back to the left to face the herd again, I saw the white heifer dash past us on the left.

To not disturb the herd too much, I once again approached from the right, this time a lot shallower. Trouble seemed to have picked out a brown cow on his own, so I let him gently move it away from the herd.

A couple steps out the cow suddenly darted to the right, but luckily Trouble was right on it's heels, blocking the way back almost instantaneously. We continued working the cow until the buzzer loudly echoed through the arena.

I gently lifted my hand and backed Trouble away from the cow, before making our way out of the gorgeous arena.
