Sometimes I hate coming up with titles...Anyway, this is another piece for that calendar project. I don't think I've ever tried drawing a snowy scene before, even though I tend to enjoy snow quite a bit.
So, I looked up a bunch of references of snowy landscapes and mountains, and tried to use what I learned to make some art.
I lightened up the dragon a little, too. Hopefully it looks like a very light blue or white dragon. White and black tend to be difficult for me, so this piece was a lot of fun in that respect, as well.
Comments and criticism welcome, like always.
Now, I just need to find some time to finish all the other promising sketches I have set aside...

Whow! Thats some truely beautiful picture you came up with. Wonderful details and coloring on the scales as well as as their facial expressions. The rider, looking expectant and eager to take of whilest the dragon, looking somber and peacefully overlooking the land. Truely a beutiful piece!

I usually spend quite a while trying to get the color scheme just right. The wintery color scheme is one of the parts of this one that I had a lot of fun with.

I tried to use make sure there was some good contrast between the characters and the sky.

Very nice, it almost has a vintage feel to it. Unfortunately, I've been busy for the holidays, so I haven't been able to critique your work. Sorry. But all in all, I think you did the scales well, they don't stand out too much but they are noticeable. The rider's profile seems to be a little off though, perhaps too flat? The stars give off a beautiful, majestic feeling, while the mountains are simple, but effective. Nice job.

I know how it is to get behind on messages. It happens to me from time to time, as well...
I had a lot of fun with this piece. Like you noticed, the rider was one of the parts that gave me some trouble.
So, I went back to it, and tried a bit of sketching. Making his nose longer makes him seem awkward, and changing the angle of his chin doesn't work out well either, so I'm not sure what the best way to improve him would be. Perhaps using a more realistic style for the human would fit in there better... I'll figure something out there...
It was a very fun picture to make, though.

I tend to work in grayscale before coloring, so it gives me some time to focus on the lighting. I'm quite happy with how this one turned out.

I always like seeing these sorts of scenes, too. That's why I make them.
This picture was drawn digitally, so I made the line art on the computer, too. When you scan something, sometimes you have little pieces of dust, and the line art can look rather rough. Doing things like a vector trace, or spending time cleaning it up can smooth things out quite a bit.
And don't worry about it. I used to be a noob, too.

Simply Astounding.
Background detail is, for me it is more dreamy then extreme detail and it fits even as standalone.
It feels like as Position become higher, it getting more sharp-detailed, and as possition getting lower, it getting more dreamy, which both are nice style. but hard to mix them both at one Art, But this mixed two parts simply astounding, it is both sharply detailed and dreamy cover up making perfect combination at position of viewer.
