Description A little gift for Myself and everyone on DA to enjoy as part of My completion of school.
Please save any congrats or non-related comments for My page or Journal titled 'time to celebrate'.

As for the picture itself, I wanted to try drawing something besides My usual natural environments and involve a city in this one, The fireworks, which are the main focus of the artwork just wouldn't look right if they were in the middle of nowhere surrounded by natural scenery
and I'm not sure how good the buildings turned out since I can't compare it to other city attempts because there is none. Just try to enjoy the pretty colours and shiny lights !

I like city lights at night. And fireworks, and the moon. And the reflection in the water. Together, they make a very beautiful scene. Awesome.

That infamous song by Kool and the Gang was the first thing to pop into my head upon seeing this. I know it's an old song, kinda too easy to place, but it's still my favorite party song. That one, and a line from the song "In this Diary" by the Ataris fits well.

This is one of your older works, but it's still a treat for the eyes. I'd imagine most of the party-goers are setting up in the forested area across the lake. That's where the most fun might be since a beach party is the best kind of party. Food will be dined upon, music will be blasting, glasses will be brought together in toasts, and all the while the night is lit up with the firey spectacle overhead. Good times.

I'm not familiar with those band names, I might recognise the songs if I heard them but I'm like that with a lot of music - learn the songs but never the names

That's a very good description, I've never been to a beach party, or even just around a bonfir eon the beach with a group of good friends. It's the lifestyle I always dreamed of but never got, and now even if I was presented with the opportunity I'd probably feel very awkward but at least the fireworks would be cool

I can really feel the celebratory thing you were going for! This makes me feel really happy when I look at it! Oh, and I love how the moon is there yet slightly hidden because the eye is first drawn to all the brighter colors!

Glad you do! the Moon is on most nights - the brightest thing in the sky, but when fireworks are going off - all eyes are on those

I never played that so I wouldn't know.

All your comments made me realise just how many deviations I have relate back to games, some were intentional, but many were my own creations...I guess there is subliminal inspiration from games in there lol.

Oh my gosh I LOVE this. It's pretty unique looking too in my opinion. You have your own style. This reminds me of my brithday/new years eve which are the same day. I hated new years when I was little though because I didn't want the year to be over. I was a bit odd.

Yeah, I feel a bit sad that the year has reached an end. But I suddenly get over it the next morning when I know I can make a fresh start in a new year.

You went up to north Canada and there was no snow? Now that even has me confused ( Global warming maybe ?)

Yeah I've realized over the past ten years that there has been less snow. I remember snow being absolutely everywhere a few feet high and ice and slush all over the place, and now we only get a few big snows a year. I live in southern Canada but I was about 8 hours north of where I live last christmas and there wasn't any snow. It just didn't feel like Christmas holidays until the day of.

Agreed, New years is best in the southern hemisphere, where we can enjoy Christmas and new years on a hot Summers night. It wasn't really supposed to be Sydney, or any other city in particular but I actually would rather move from Sydney to the gold coast... everyone wants to live where they are not living in already

I really don't like the cold at all, but I think it just doesn't feel like christmas without snow. I went up north last christmas and I couldn't believe there wasn't any snow.

Hay there mat, hows the hair doing? Dealing with a drunk, would make your hair frizzy. Just like your standing in a pool of water & you put your finger in an electric socket or even tryed to put your tongue inside of it. Here in Phoenix, Arizona the 4th of July is a big deal, I live next to alot of beautiful Mountains. I always tell my friends & family that when I pass this world Just dig a hole in my back yard & throw me in it, but make sure my hair looks good. I still love the artistic "GENIUS" in everything you do. For whomever reads this, please give Priteeboy/Matthew an "APPLAUSE"!. Thanks 4 taking the time to reply to all of us whom Love your work. This is something that makes an artist "GRRRREAT".

I always make sure its fine, Otherwise I wouldn't live up to my DA name My hair may undergo slight changes in style but It's generally like my avatar... And I am happy to take the time to reply to comments, even if I get more than usual. I sometimes am put off from certain artists here who never reply to a single comment. Bah ! they don't deserve their popularity if they walk all over those who support them...Of course some simple comments are not meant to be replied to, some just want to say "looks awesome" but I often take special note of extended comments and critique-even if I don't totally agree.

Dude, this so rocks. I wish I would of seen it for the 4th of July, because I was sick(ill) & I did't go anywhere. Besides there are some real sick drunks on the road. They have no sense to park & pass out. I guess they like going to jail. Where did you get the idea 4 this, it looks like New York city or LasVegas, Nevada (sin city). I so love your work.

See you on the flip side.
Love Peace & Chicken Grease.

I'm not really a city person either, mainly for the same reasons You pointed out. Too noisy and drunk-crowded for me. The idea isn't really based on any city or festival ( living in Australia, we don't celebrate the 4th of July ). But I was just in the mood to draw fireworks and lots of glowing things. So I came up with this.

XbiancaX [2006-12-18 23:30:28 +0000 UTC]

did you draw that, or is that a render of some type?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to XbiancaX [2006-12-19 08:50:48 +0000 UTC]

Nope, I dont rely on renders. It was all done in the more manual way which can take more time but has better, more natural results. Thanks for showing interest.
