Yes, I don't know how someone could shoot an eagle. Her wing was completely destroyed and had to be amputated (this was before it was required that birds in that condition simply be put down) and she has now spent 30+ years in captivity. She doesn't seem stressed by captivity (she loves her baths and her "toys"), and she is so used to people that she acts like an imprinted bird, but she could have spent those 30 years free.

The really sad thing is how often this happens. The two bald eagles at the National Aviary and the two bald eagles at the Akron Zoo are all in captivity because one of their wings had to be partially or totally removed.
