You could say it is. This is combining elements of a lot of dreams about Exael's life. Planet Eden, the winged ship, etc :3
From what I've seen in my head, it's how Falling starts. Slowly, soft, not too scary.... And then you begin to pick up speed as you lose more and more feathers o-o;

It does. I'm working on the second piece of this, which will be a triptych. All of a sudden all you have left is the flesh of the wings and all the flapping in the world won't stop it or slow you down. Then it's praying you don't hit something horrible when you finally meet the ground
