A present for my friend, Bego (NineTimesBetter) on tumblr, who likes my art, despite the fact that I draw, like, none of her pairings and who also makes me beautiful Kirk/Rand graphics based on the Kirk/Rand song (aka, "Miss You" by the Feeling).
So here's a drawing of her OTP, Scotty and Uhura, while he interferes with the incoming messages so send one of his own.

You see, I didn't really see much chemistry between them until Final Frontier, but it seems like everyone else did. And they are adorable, though, like you, I don't really ship them actively.
By the way, it's so lovely to hear someone else refer to active and passive shipping, because I use those terms as well, but sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who does stuff like that.

Oui, I really dislike Spock pairings. :c Spock/Uhura, really Spock/Kirk. He just never ended up with anyone.

Eh, people also say that Kirk/Rand's PROFOUND sexual tension isn't canon, but then talk about how Spock/Kirk are totally hooking up or whatever, so I don't even know anymore.
The Spock pairing I dislike really is him and Saavik, because that one was REPEATEDLY squickly and... I don't know. I just didn't get it. (Also, I really thought she was going to end up with David Marcus, so I was just generally confused.)
I do, but kind of as a different canon. Like, I think what people don't get about the reboot is that it's not actually a remake. It's really more of a sequel, you know? Because everything from TOS, etc. is supposed to have occurred and then Spock Prime goes back in time, so while it's the same characters, it's really more of a different series.
But that's just my opinion and I don't think anyone really agrees with it.

Yes, yes, see I'm torn that way. I say Spock really went back in time but it's actually an alternate dimension. Therefore, that makes it cannon. But then I have to think about Sp/Uh being cannon and... *shivers*

Yeah, but lots of things are canon that the fandom doesn't like to think about--like that fact the TOS!Chekov attempts to rape a Klingon woman in a moment of madness and that according to one episode of TOS, women aren't allowed to be captains. 
Personally, I kind of like Spock/Uhura because of the way that their characters were built up in XI, but I know that not everyone does, so...

I agree, I don't think they would have a relationship. After that Spock is hardly Spock for a while after and probably wouldn't think of her as a mate or "girlfriend." Whatever Vulcans would call them.
Did they actually say woman couldn't be captains in TOS? Like out-loud? Honestly, you must remember the time it was written in. Gene wanted a female officer and that was pushing it. I believe that was the main reason for VOY. They were SO nervous, even in 2001--was it?--that Janeway would be shot down. They did so much to make her excepted and the like. (I watched a biography somewhere...)
Ehh, to each his own. I don't like it since they wrote they made an episode (one of the first few in S1 TOS) where they made Uhura go all, "I bet moons are pretty on VUlcan, and so are you." Spock was like, "An objects beauty is seen in the eyes of the beholder (or something... I'm paraphrasing)and I have no preference." She was all, *sulks back to station...*

No, no, no, I totally understand about the time and stuff like that. I don't actually have a problem with it since it was ret-conned out. But I'm referring to the strangeness of the episode "Turnabout Intruder". I think that's where that's said. If not, then whatever. But I completely understand about the difference of the time period and such. Trust me.
I need to rewatch the first few episodes, because I've not re-watched them at all, so I can't quite remember how annoying it is or not. I was kind of into Rand at the time so...

Yeah, I've only seen a handful, but I started at the beginning. That's how I saw that one.
