So, I kind of have a thought for the second act of Assigned. Walking home after wiping the laptop with the unpredicted help of Lucifer, Kat gets jumped by killer who has now taken at least three lives. It's revealed that the double murder earlier in the day was to serve as a distraction while they snuck in to try and snatch the laptop, which was missing because Katherine locked themselves in a room to delete everything. Shout out to with their amazing RP skills and helping me think of things.

Angry, they confront Kat, forcing a choker necklace on which has a fake gem filled with cerberin from a Suicide Tree and an embedded microphone that's practically invisible. It can't be taken off, otherwise mechanism in the small gem will puncture the skin and release the toxin into Kat's veins, giving the appearance of a heart attack by irregular heartbeat.

Not deterred, Katherine reaches up to rip the choker off while saying they won't help, when the killer also says that if they refuse, get caught, or try to take it off, not only will Kat die but the police station and her work will be flooded with a nerve agent, leading to multiple casualties and allowing the killer to practically walk in and get the files themselves. Reluctantly agreeing, the killer allows Kat to walk home.

Now Kat tries to distance themselves from the police and Lucifer, not wanting the whole thing to be found out and cause the deaths of hundreds of innocents, even if it might lead to the death of thousands of soldiers.
