Description all down in the drowning dregs
of a dilapidated message, i feel the falling metal
i smell the swelling settle.
there are no half hewn thoughts here.
only the empty vessels of trellises supporting a constellation,
a silver spoon
that feeds and soothes a sick child.
miles and miles away in the heat of debate i mention the missing
six dollars and twenty-three cents
for a fence to sit. for a lit candle
that is slipping down the black slope
and begging with the eyes of a wanderer to follow.
i have found only two shields
to the indifferent shimmer of a stream.
first there are the rolling roiling black pebbles
that dance like clouds of smog in the spring,
and then there is the enemy. a recalcitrant frog
bellowing the tense message that there is no
is no
trusting.
