Description I went to my old room and found some drawings I had done of Greek Gods way back in 2000. I was really into Greek Gods doing it with each other and I just want to resurface it. This series (hopefully) will include Cupid, Bacchus, Apollo, Hermes, Poseidon, Ares, Hades, and Zeus.

Anyways so this is the first one, Cupid, and I sketched it out and scanned it into Painter. I need lots of practice in coloring. You guys have any suggestions?

*edit: It was really bugging me how bad the coloring was for this, but I repainted it and now I'm happy.

Eros, or simply the personification of Love was born from the Darkness or Nox; Cupid was the son of Venus (Aphrodite), but myth makers often confused the two, as they share many similarities.

Cupid does have a sort of innocence when he's portrayed with the wings and the classical cherub features (biblical cherubs were firece warrior angels, the soldiers of God), but there is another side to Cupid that some don't know about.

Venus was a jealous of most women and their beauty, no stranger to infidelity either, and often she'd use her son, Cupid's archery talents to cause trouble and get herself laid by the hunkiest of the gods.

I'd love to see your interpretation of Cupid and Psyche (Psyche has a man, of course), if you want an interesting and sensual depiction, look up Jaques-Louis David's "Cupid and Psyche" painting.

This is gorgeous!
If Cupid looks like this,
He can come visit me,
Hit me with an arrow,
And then take me out to dinner,
Haha!
I wouldn't even need the arrow!
Great job really,
Needs to be in my favs <3

Eros/ Cupid is said to be the oldest god, the first born, or Protogonist- somthing like that anways. He has several brothers, and can be at many places at once. He is the god that makes the world turn, and is said to be the most beautful, have beauty beyond that of even Apollo. Myths about his parenthood is covered in mystery. Some say that he created him self, the soul heir to chaos, others say that he was born from the night. And later during the Roman republic, he was said to be the son of Venus.
There was a cult of gay fighters who would pair off with each other, and fight to the death protecting each other. They worshiped the Union of Eros(Cupid) and Ares. The affair of these gods angered Aphrodite so much, that she casued Cupid to prepetuate in love. ( So that pretty much rules out Ares as his father heh- heh)
Anyways- why no comments? I think its pretty cool. You really captured his youthful appearence.
