You're most welcome! Flexibility has always fasinated me, shows just what the human body is capable of if it works hard for long enough.
But if I may ask, is you flexibility natural? How long did for you take to achieve it?

cirqueclown In reply to Durianssmellnice [2009-07-26 09:48:32 +0000 UTC]

It might be a little bit natural... and i say that because when I was little i use to always accidently dislocate my arms and stuff, and still now i have hyper-extended joints.
Liiiike my legs are in this shape ---> (( [my knee being on this side]
but yeah when i was 13 i stretched religiously for half a year watching a holiday video of the tarzan show at euro disney. It inspired me, i wanted to be a flexible monkey too! now i just do it when i feel like it

Dislocated your arms all the time?!? Ouch... Doesn't that hurt? My right knee is out too, but this was due to a sport accident of sorts. That knees never worked well since.

But if I may ask, how do you maintain your stretching routine for a whole half year without getting bored of doing the same stretch over and over and over again everyday? Plus I'm just dazzled by your flexibility after training for just half a year! its increadible!! (My congratulations to your amazing skill BTW.) One of my friends said shes always wanted to have the kind of bendiness you've achieved. But she dosen't know where to start or whether she too old to start. Can you offer us some advice?

wow.... I'm amazed that your amazed and that you and your friends have spoken of me! well let me think... I stretched that much because i was OBSESSED with contortion at the time. I'd stretch watching cirque dvds and listening to music and in front of my reflection, so i can see what i sort of look like, it's interesting/amusing. And i'd never stick to a routine i just did what ever was easiest and then more and more. How old is your friend? cause if she's like 50 or something I'd have no idea. I'm pretty sure anyone can become flexible if they stretched enough! I'm sorry if I'm not helping. I never stuck to lessons or anything so i dont really have the right to give advice.

Well, when we went on deviant art about half a year ago or so, and just happened to come across your page. Our jaws dropped the moment we saw you doing that backcatch on "first IDea" We said "wwwwoooooowwww! She's good!!!" at the same time, no joke. We were so amazed, my friends asked me to do a painting of someone in the same pose. so I did. [link] check it out! Hardly my best work saddly, was in a bad mood while doing it.

Its not just one friend actually. Its more a group of my friends come together, to talk about all sorts of increadible artforms. For example: Contortion. They're all 20ish, youngest is 18 oldest is about 27. Only one can do a split, but thats the only thing she can do.

that sounds like a really cool group of friends! my friends arnt really interested in contortion but theyre still cool thats a really amazing pose in your artwork. Its really amazing! and about stretching, as long as you LIKE doing it then just do it and see how it goes i guess

Durianssmellnice In reply to cirqueclown [2009-07-29 16:31:06 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, we have similar interests. Thank you for your compliment, it very nice of you to say so! Although my friends don't seem to think so, they say I usually do alittle better. Anyways, my frends like doing stretching, they say its fun, but the pain puts them off alittle... how do you cope with the pain when you stretch? Oh yeah, another thing, how can you tell whether you're a frontbender, or a backbender?
Thanks for all your help.

cirqueclown In reply to Durianssmellnice [2009-07-31 08:46:28 +0000 UTC]

I sort of don't mind the pain. If you just think about something else... I don't know i don't really remember cause it doesnt hurt anymore and I'm assuming if you dont have a flexible spine your more of a front bender? sorry I suck at this it's cool to see people really into contortion, I've been so distracted from it lately I almost forgot

Durianssmellnice In reply to cirqueclown [2009-07-31 14:19:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I read on some contortion forums my friends showed me, it said contortion is an art. So I guess it gets...not painful anymore just like painting is not difficult to me anymore? Since they both artforms, I guess.
Oh, its that simple? Well, I guess its still hard to tell for my friends and I
Contortion was completely unknown in Singapore a few years ago, then Cirque du Soleil came and people here started to notice how beautiful it is. I'll give another 2 or 3 years and the island will be buzzing about contortion, the latest trend!

I too am a contortionist. I can frontbend. I can put my legs behing my head and such. I also know a few tricks that are sort of "odd" for frontbenders.

I really want to learn to do backbends, but I don't have balance like that yet.

I'm going to check out some of your other controtion pics. Keep up the good work.

I'm also adding you to my watchlist.

Contortion rocks. I wish more people could do it. One day I'll marry one. Oh, and you're my age (sly smile).

Just messing around with the love comment. I really am 14, though.

Anyway, I started a thread on the Deviants Forum. Check it out some time when it finally gets a lot of hits.
