Around the shadows creep
Like friends, they cover me

I have a hard time posting consistently on social media, and for a while I thought that was a failing of mine...too easily distracted, not enough dedication...but after consideration (that’s gone on for years) I have found that blame too simplistic. I’ve seen the development of the internet and social media. I was one of the last to have a childhood without the internet. That time is barely remembered but it’s there. In college I had this youthful ideal and expectation that social media would connect us all, foster discussion and understanding, and provide freedom indiscriminately. As I’ve grown older, I’ve become disillusioned. The hopes I had seem so pure, but (disregarding a few social movements) the result that was pushed to me ended up being a shallow measurement of likes...

It’s like being hungry and handed nothing but ash.

In an effort to reduce people to bite sized sellable bits of data, developers forget what it is to be human in not only mind but spirit.

Of all the social platforms I’ve tried, I enjoyed Deviant Art the most, because I found discussions and built friendships.

In the end, my lack of posting was never a flaw with me, but the failure of the media to provide a meaningful massage...
