Description On Saturday March 27th 2010, two steam tours visited Manchester, the first being a high profile tour run by the West Coast Railway Company in support of "Help For Heroes", a charity set up to assist injured soldiers returning home from conflict abroad. The tour was booked to run from Lancaster to Carlisle up the S&C and return, however was later changed to run from Lancaster to York and return via Manchester Victoria.

The loco lineup was also changed significantly last minute. Due to the catastrophic failiure of 46115 "Scots Guardsman" on the previous attempt at the Cotton Mill Express, the tour was a loco down, with 70013 in full working order, and set to run as 70048 "Territorial Army". However the gap was filled in last minute, by the UKs only mainline registered LMS 8F 2.8.0 number 48151 "Gauge O Guild" This locomotive had recently returned to traffic following an 18 month overhaul, and was polished up beyond belief. Here she is seen in platform 3 at Manchester Victoria, getting ready for departure to York.
