The Sabre jet had an advantage over the MIG-15
during the Korean war.....
(1) It used hydraulics in the plane for wings, fins in flight control systems
MIG had old fly by wire controls which made it hard to turn.
(2) It had six .50 caliber machine guns that fires at a high rate
MIG had two large caliber type cannons that did not fire
at a high rate and had limited ammo as well..
(3) It was a much lighter jet fighter and flew faster
MIG was a bit heavier and could not fly as fast.
(4) Had a greater range in flight
MIG did not have that range..
====================
The USAF got their hands on a MIG-15 after a North Korean pilot
defected to a US airbase in one.
After it was taken back to USA for study, the USAF experts determine
MIG-15 could fly higher and was more heavily armored...
It was good for shooting at ground targets and slower moving bombers.
BUT, as a jet dog-fighter plane it had a lot of limitations on it...
