My Pic done for Drawing Day 2010!So I was trying to decide what to draw for Drawing Day this year and I had it narrowed down to 3 things. A painting of a hyena, an African wild dog anthro, or a pic of my fursona. Granted all three of them had good reasons to be drawn, but since my favorite hyena Nat Geo special was on last night, and 2 other Nat Geo shows had hyenas in them, I figured it was kinda destiny in a way.
XD Okay maybe not destiny but something wanted a hyena pic so here it is!
This was done as a WMW speed painting last night at midnight til 2am. I didn't want to work on the hyena itself for more than 2 hours, and inbetween uploading 9 steps to photobucket and posting it on PonyIsland, I did about 1.5hrs of work on the hyena. I'm not entirely pleased with the hyena's face, but considering it was done in 1.5hours I can't complain. And since it was done in speed painting style, I'm not going back in to fix it either. I added a dusty background for it today and made it the size of my screen resolution for a change of wallpaper.

Awwww. I adore hyenas. I generally like them not so sweet and adorable, but I definitely have to make an exception for this fluffy guy. <3
I have to agree that the face does look off, but not off enough to create an issue. And, as you said, it was done quickly. I have to say, though, that nose is outrageously well done. I can't get over the soft highlights. I feel like a dork obsessing over a nose, but I have to admit that I keep scrolling back up to it. xD -scampers into a corner- >__>

And yea I think I just messed up the placement of the eyes, but for an hour and a half I'm fine with it lol. I've been practicing noses recently so yea XD thanks for noticing lol

That's so beautiful... O_o Normally I don't think hyenas are beautiful animals, but when I saw a documentary of them, I just fell in love <3 They're such great animals, and they can be so pretty.. (it's just a shame we know so little about them )
