At first I added too many details and it became cluttered haha. Got most of them out for the readability of the painting.

At least you can tell if something is wrong in your painting and then fix it : D When I've drawn for a while I cannot see my mistakes unless I walk away from the painting and come back after a while, haha Have you heard anything from TAW yet?

Nah, I miss plenty of stuff and get my behind handed over by better artists. Yes, it's best to take short breaks, that way you refresh yourself and get a fresh view on your image.

No, I haven't. I'm guessing it's not going to be too long until I do though.

I don't think that you can be compared to 'better' artists - Your style is your own and it is easy to recognize it
