That's essentially what I did with a character of mine that had gone through a lot. Ironically, just like Marina he was a super quirky/cheerful personality at first, but in figuring out his backstory for another RPG I ended up dumping a ton of angst on him |D
What I discovered was that as scarred as he was by everything that had happened, he still wanted to be cheerful and happy, but while it was a lot harder for him to feel that way now, he still insisted on being the cheerful person in his group of friends mostly for their sake. Eventually, once he was able to let out what was upsetting him, he was able to be more honest about the way he was feeling and work his way back to actually feeling cheery again. Not nearly as happy-go-lucky or naive as before, but still relatively happy and optimistic. I think it's perfectly possible for Marina to achieve the same thing.

Ah, I see! Might I ask who? :3
Yeah, that makes sense... and I was kinda thinking the same thing for her... Marina doesn't really want her siblings to know what she's been up to so... tries to be as cheerful and silly as possible... I still need to think about it (and defining the Temporal Preservation Agency is going to be rather helpful in that) but your comment has been really helpful in trying to envision her, so thank you, Sky :3

Ah- my human character, Inkato xD There aren't a whole lot of great memories from the tablestop campaign he was in, but there's still stuff I liked about the developing story-- even if it was never finished.
Unfortunately other than that dumb comic I'd done for him back on my old account, I never uploaded any of his rp's but tbh that's probably for the best lol
