Description See the video on Swatches my YouTube channel HERE

All high-caliber artists share a single attribute and if you want to be counted among them you also will have to have it. This 5 minute episode is a bit different than the previous ones but if you like it don't forget to leave a comment and share it if you know someone who should hear it.

Greatest video ever! I watch it every time when I'm too lazy to draw, and it works every time! And I think it works not only with drawing. My apologies for not FAVing this earlier

think you are spot on,Β not sure if you mentioned it, but one of the attributes I think makes someone successful is also lovingΒ
" the fight ". Love what you do, do what you love.

this video frightened me. You come off kind of strange, you know that? Well, whatever, don't worry about it. It was just so dramatic, I was kind of laughing, and kind of thinking, yeah, maybe. In high school I drew a cartoon with colored pencils where this guy is on his computer and he punches it and then a weird blobby flesh monster pops out and grabs his face and lifts him off of the ground. That's the internet. It was called Counter-Punch, 8 seconds long. Or maybe ten. Don't know why I just said that.Β

This was so beautiful... I have to express the sincerest thanks for your sharing this video, this message.
Perseverance... Mhm.
Hearing all of this from someone like you (an artist whose work and grit inspires me) is so deeply meaningful.
Truly. Thank you.

The way you presented this meant everything.Β  Dead stare, stern voice, beaten but not broken attitude.Β  That's how I've felt about art- like it's beating me, and I think it won't stop until it breaks me, and I wonder if everyone else is feeling this force against them.

I've heard 'hard work', 'time', 'practice'- and I know it's true, always have, but I don't think anyone had ever really encapsulated the FIGHT that is art, before (at least not to me).

Thanks for putting it this way.Β  I'm holding onto this.

It sounds like a pretty extreme opinion.
DoesnΒ΄t it mean, that weΒ΄d give up a bit of our freedom, for an illusion?Β

"The One Attribute All High-Caliber Artists Possess"

Me: "Please don't be hard work, please don't be hard work..."

Clint: "It's hard work."

Me: "Aw shit..."

But seriously though, this video gave me chills because it is SO TRUE, especially about not giving up. Β I remember when I first started working for Games Workshop, I received a lot of adulation from my artist friends about how "naturally talented" I must have been to get there, or any other reason why it might have been easier for me to achieve that position. Β Truth is I actually failed a portfolio review, then art test after art test after art test, and the only reason I achieved this longtime personal goal was because I refused to stop trying. Β It wasn't any special skills, or tricks, or brushes, or hell, even "talent" like everyone assumed. Β Just the refusal to quit.

Shared, saved, and rewatched like 5 more times. Β Thanks Clint! Β And thanks for that quote, that's going up on my motivation board.

Thank you for your uplifting, invigorating and heartwarming speech, very much appreciated!

Every once in a while, it's nice to be reminded that we're not alone in this journey, but at the same time, each and everyone of us is responsible, each day, for not giving up, and keep pushing, and fighting with every obstacle that appears in our way, even if a lot of the time are our own fears and insecurities.
You need to remind that giving up is not an option, it never was, and it never will be, unless you want to leave your dreams behind and forget about them, and the person that you could have become.

best statement about art career i've heard!
Don't even think about giving up, finish what you are making and start again, believe in your ability to do better each time and DO IT!

Of course things aren't easy, that's exactly why it is rewarding!
If you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity of making what you love don't overthink about it and let the passion work.

AND FUCKIN' DO IT!

Β

Thank you mister Clint for this motivationnal speach .
