Description The Tree Of Life is derived from old Celtic customs, forests of the old world were vast covering whole countries. When a tribe would clear land for a settlement they would always leave one tree in the center, to them this was called in irish "crann bethadh" Tree Of Life. Trees touch all three realms of existence, the heavens with branches, the underworld or spirit world with roots and the mortal world with their trunks.

The metal is ancient bronze (cu90:sn10) very tough metal, it is harder then cast iron, I alloy the metal myself using copper scraps (wires, pipes) and tin. I have posted this piece before in Shibuichi (75% copper 25% silver), this one is for sale you can find it at my etsy shop.

You can visit my Etsy shop @ www.bronzesmithdesigns.etsy.com this item is also a sale item available for commission.

The piece weighs 120 grams, 11cm wide by 6cm tall.

Are you still making this piece? - If so, can you tell me the size of the connector for the belt? - I have a leather belt that is 1 5/8" wide. It has the picture of the Lord of the Rings stained on it. It is a fantastic belt and I think your buckle would be perfect for it - especially since the Ents are my favorite creatures in the story!

Hope to hear from you soon.

My standard size is 1.5" but I can make nearly any size clip, I just made one for a 2.5" wide belt. Sounds like an awesome combination.

Wow! What did you make the original mold in?

Its a special carving wax feels sort of like plastic but less stretchy/gummy its called ferris blue carving wax, I absolutely love this stuff, its flexible but will take a lot of detail.

Hmmm sounds pretty cool. And do you make a plaster cast, and then use the cire perdue method, or what?

For production pieces I actually make a rubber mold and take wax copies from that then use those copies for cire perdue.

Your work is stunning! I am looking to purchase the TOL buckle for my husband in bronze for our 8th wedding anniversary. Do you have any remaining in stock I can purchase at this time? I need it for Feb. 11, 2013. Please respond when you can as I feel this is the perfect gift and I've been looking for some time.
Thank you!

Beautiful.

It also reminds me of the Great Tree of Ga'Hoole from "Legends of the Guardians".

I'm sorry I will be posting a new tree of life pendant that I am almost finished, my best work yet, this will be less expensive then the TOL buckle.

I liked the color of the other one, but it looks pretty good in bronze as well Ancient bronze? That's very interesting!

The patina on the other one was cool, problem was that the metal (Shibuichi) went funny after a couple weeks of wearing it. I need a better picture system since this picture doesn't really capture this piece properly.
