Description Well, a corner of it~ We aren't allowed to take pictures inside the main building, so I don't really have a lot pictures of the castle.

Nijo-jo was the Kyoto residence of Japan's first shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu.

Taken October 2010

A moat! Did it smell at all? The castle looks cool, like straight out of those samurai scenes with the battle taking place on top of the roof!

Is that a pine tree? That's quite an interesting tree to have since it rains so much in Japan.

Hmm I really don't recall the smell... perhaps it did? Ooo now I can see samurai battling it out on the roof XD new idea to draw! (wait or maybe ninja on the roof and samurai... wait they shouldn't be in the moat) =X meow

How about battle on the roof, and a pair of lovers in a gondola in the moat, oblivious to all that is occurring behind them?

Future challenge piece?

Oh oh! Have you ever seen those "stock" compilations, where they use the background with some modifications? Maybe you can just use this photo, combine it with that golden building picture, and draw on top of it! ^__^

But you were the one who captured the essence of the building right? Right?

But background practice is always good! If you ever complete that piece, I do look forward to seeing it!
