Commission forFirst of all...ARGH. Secondly, I'm sorry this took so long dear! Kri'khali is such a joy (and pain!) to draw. I hope this is close to what you wanted to see
I appreciate you commissioning me so much hun. And for being so patient when it took much longer than I anticipated. So, this is ~NewShine 's character Kri'khali, whom I designed for her in her previous commission. I think this one turned out a lot better. I put a ton of work into this one. Bushes are fun! But for some reason, dirt is evil.
I'll get better at backgrounds eventually though. Eventually. ~NewShine chose the photo reference of the horse, and the photo ref for the background. It was actually quite a fun and interesting challenge to draw from pre-selected references. Although that angle of the face is really difficult for me still.

The atmosphere is so warm! so happy! I like the dirt that's picked up around her feet, and the details in her mane and tail, nice job!
The very first thing that stands out to me is the ground, I know its dirt, but lets make it look dirt-y LOL give it textures, color variation wil help a lot too! Really playing with textures will help pull a piece together, the dirt, the trees need some good ol rough bark, just like you did the mane and tail! The mane and tail look done the rest of the picture needs to pick up pace 
There's something in this picture that most artists forget use, a definite foreground, mid-ground, and background! The grass in the corners helps frame the picture and set up a scene, push that foreground more! It's good!

Hi, I'm critiquing for
I love this drawing. I really like the nice warm feel to it. I like how the horse stands out against the background.
The detail you put into the horse's mane and tail is amazing. I think it really paid off. The horses anatomy is good, but like you said his face is a bit off. I think his nose is a bit too short. His body looks very well drawn. The shading adds depth and you can see the outlines of all his muscles.
The background is lovely. The bushes look very realistic. I like how you drew the leafs. The trees are also pretty good, although I would recommend drawing roots at the base, instead of just ending when they reach the soil.
I like the dappled sun effect on the ground. I think adding a shadow of the horse on the dirt would look great. It would also help the character to sit better in the drawing.

Hmm, I think you're about right on the face. The angle was really difficult for me since I usually draw from the side. Because it's easier and whatnot.
Ooh, good idea with the roots and the ground. You know I hadn't even thought of that! And I think I actually forgot to have a decent shadow. Oopsies.

The good:
DAT MANE AND TAIL 
What could be Improved:
You don't use lines, so I don't know how help you make the outline crisper because I haven't crossed the bridge myself. The front legs look like they are smudged together a bit. Maybe you could make the area between the fetlock joint and the hoofs a little thinner. The back right hock is a little pointy, maybe just make it a little rounder.
Now with the background, you could maybe try to make the dirt look a little sharper. You could also add some dimension to the background by making some of the hills more defined. For example maybe right under your watermark put some grass and sharp lines because the trees above it look like they muddy. OR if you are not trying to make that look higher up you could add some brown in between the bushes in the right corner.
Are you using photoshop? If you are then I would take the blur tool and use it on some the tree way in the back to help bring dimension to the image.
Overall:
Parts of the equine are even better than I could personally do and you get huge brownie points for making the background from scratch. I think you should play around with your characters outlines to help make your characters pop a little more (I wish I could be more help there but I really don't know how because I'm not even where your at...yet)

No, not on this one! But that does give me something to think about. Crispiness is good. And I think you're right about her front feet. I liked her leg-lines a lot when I drew it so I think I was trying to preserve that and failing a bit. Also thank you for hock-tips--feetsies are hard, too!

It is meant to be grass, though, not trees--just to clarify. xD I think that I'll be fixing this image after the event and putting as much of the critique into it as possible. So again, thank yoooou~

The hair. The ears. THE BUSHES ARE WIN. Chest. Hooves. That beauticious lil dip where the hip connects to the barrel. THAT PINK NOSE OF CUTENESS. Trees. Trees are so much.. Bark-groove-textured-gorgeousness. The nose. That is such a cute, dainty nose. And I love the bits of grass framing the bottom! And the colorsss, she is such a perfect shade of blue-tinted-roaned-gray! And the little stripey markingsss, so delicate and faint and Feminine, you got it Just right.
