Hey, look. A pony!I've been so stressed and constantly tired that I've been utterly frustrated with my art...and, as a testament to how much suck has been sitting on my face, I didn't even finish my Mom's mother's day gift this year. I might still (hate looking at it currently) but this is her apology just in case. I think I'm way too focused on thinking that shadows and highlights fall exactly in certain places. Because they don't. They're freakin' weird. So I decided to do some traditional art for once.
I did some minor editing in photoshop because, unfortunately, I can't use my scanner right now soooo I'm using my phone camera >.> Had to fix the color. It looked weird. Looks better in person, as they all do.
I actually like this. I didn't think it would turn out but it doesn't make me want to cry. The only thing I really don't like is that I darkened the hollow above the eye too much and it stands out a bit much for my taste. But I'm done messing with it I think.
Yay for pencils!
I did use a ref, both for pose and shading. No tracing. Freehand.

This is really pretty sweetpea! I like the highlighting and shadowing--you did well with it! It's a tricky little bugger though, isn't it? I still struggle with that

Thanks! It is tricky and it stumps me every time...But I think I'm just too much of a perfectionist sometimes and you just can't box stuff in like that...apparently. Turns out better when you don't. Apparently.

Ooooh believe me, I know. I have the same problem; especially with pencil drawings. I don't know why, I'm just a lot less comfortable with them than I am colored pencil for some reason
But regardless, this is really good sweetness. Give yourself some credit!

Haha, it is hard to get both! That photo was just perfect, though. There was a weird shadow on his head (which I just kinda went with anyway) but it fit perfectly for the rest of it.
