Thanks (and I really appreciate the watch and all the faves, too). I try to impart a lot of humor into my work.

I can't believe I'm feeling sorry for a nuclear warhead wearing a backpack . . . this is *awesome*

Thank you. It was a real challenge to get a character with no face to emote so much.

Jethro looks really adorable! The page is funny and panels well placed. The reactions of the boys are well expressed.

Thank you very much. Jethro is the pretty boy of the bunch.

All of the pages thus far have been the first issue, which will soon be drawing to a close.

I can clearly see that. Welcome.

Hooray! Will you publish it for example on some magazine?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cluedog In reply to sutinen [2007-06-06 01:16:56 +0000 UTC]

I have no plans on publishing Opey in print, unless some company wants to, which would be miraculous, I think.

sutinen In reply to cluedog [2007-06-06 14:35:43 +0000 UTC]

But I can imagine so well Opey to be published in Heavy Metal for example Β΄cause the magazine has the same kind of disturbing atmosphere in most of its comics (although naked women get too much attention in some parts and covers.) You will be dicovered if the magazines know what theyΒ΄re doing.

"Strut". A comedic thing that gets used a lot but it's not boring if used well. And you did it. A strutting missile.. And a friendly one at that..

The second panel: makes Opey look so small and very not dangerous.

cluedog In reply to nuppi [2007-06-01 16:16:54 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the delightful comment! Opey is, by nature, a very dimunitive and short guy, but it's his appearance that scares people senseless anyway.

nuppi In reply to cluedog [2007-06-01 19:21:16 +0000 UTC]

I would freak out if I saw a walking, talking missile. After reading about Opey, I'm afraid that if a day, when I see a real missile, arrives, I won't be able to resist calling it Opey and start making conversation about world peace or truces..

Actually, girls will be an issue dealt with an upcoming...er, issue (this one being the first one).

I really enjoy your comments, by the way, and am very appreciative of the fact that you read my comic.

Richard is the punk rocker type, and more will be revealed about him as the issue progresses.

That last panel made me laugh so hard! XD

As always I think the expressions are really well drawn, and the perspective on the second panel looks great too!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cluedog In reply to Alicia-Hannah [2007-06-01 16:41:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

I've been forcing myself to do more foreshortening and forced perspectives in my drawings, so the second panel was very challenging, indeed.

Your inking is very professional. Anything special you use to get the quality/cleanliness that you do?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cluedog In reply to Utanapishtim [2007-06-01 16:39:56 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

To get the wide range of lines for my drawing, I use one one of those old pens you dip into an ink bottle (a Hunt-108 knib, to be precise).

To clean my artwork, I always scan them into Adobe Photoshop and remove all dirt, inksplotches, whiteout stains, or undesirable lines. I also draw the borders of the panels using the Line tool in Photoshop. It can be time-consuming, but well worth it.

Opey is able to speak by...hmm...good question. I guess he speaks through the magic of being a cartoon character, the same way he was able to clean off his plate at breakfast (on an earlier Opey page). Opey defies physics, although I do know how he was created (but that's explained later in the story).

By the way, I don't think your questions are stupid. Ask me anything and I'll do my best to answer (with this clunky brain of mine).

I have heard of "Lone Wolf and Club", I've seen Goseki Kojima's artwork, and am deeply humbled (and appreciate) the comparison between him and my work.
