Description Here is my entry for the "dAd contest", where you have to dress up a set of near naked paper dolls in super-hero costumes.

The story:

Crime has run rampant in the megalopolis known as "Deviant Art". The Deviants occupying this city, known for its multicultural diversity and sophisticated artistic scene, are being terrorized by deviant criminals. Crime is out of control! Counterfeit prints are being created left and right, page views stolen, and the category system has been tampered with!

Who will save the day for the inhabitants of Deviant Art?

The NUCLEAR FAMILY, that's who!

This familial team of crook cracking crime-fighters is comprised of Fat Man, Little Boy, and Elisa Tope! Fat man, with his prolific paunch, can deflect any weapon and vaporize enemies by sitting on them with his billowing butt. Elisa Tope, with a mere thought, can create an awesome array of carbon rods with which to senselessly pummel any foe standing in her way. And Little Boy can...FLY!!! He's got wings!!!

They were a mild-mannered family of three: Newt Claire, Molly Kule, and their adorable (but manga-esque) son, Adam. Newt, always the frugal one, had bought a microwave oven made in the Soviet Union circa 1986 from a sweet little Russian town called Chernobyl. Those TV dinners weren't going to cook themselves!

Unfortunately, while nuking 37 Spicy Bean Burritoes simultaneously (Newt was hungry), the microwave that Newt had purchased exploded, exposing Newt, Molly, and Adam to high doses of strangely non-lethal radiation!

Thus, the Nuclear Family was born!

Sworn to protect the fair city of Deviant Art, they will fight anyone who stands in the way of truth, justice, and Naruto fan art!

lol... "sophisticated art scene"

And it's about time I found someone who made the Nuclear Family joke XD

Good job. I like how the wife fights with Carbon(although I like to think they're Plutonium) rods XD

Thanks! This was part of a contest I entered but it turns out I mis-read the rules and produced an entire drawing when I was supposed to "dress-up" some already existing drawings with some costume designs. Ah, well...

Thank you! Color is one of those aspects of my drawings I've been trying to improve on, so I appreciate the comment.

The characters and story are all so full of meaning and irony. The idea is just wonderful! I hope that you win Β΄cause your idea is clearly very colourful and well-thought. Their costumes are very detailed and the highlights in the latex(?) looks very realistic.

Thanks, Sutinen! But it turns out I lost the contest before I even began the drawing. I mis-read the rules. We were supposed to take "paper dolls" (drawings, essentially), and draw over them superhero costumes of our own design. Being not too bright, I drew the characters myself, AND drew their costumes and made up their backstory. So, I put in all that effort, and completely lost.

However, the administrator of the contest, y2jenn, was exceedingly kind to me, complimented my work, and added it to her favorites.

Damn! I really sympatize with you. Must feel very awful about the lost time in some way. But really, itΒ΄s a great pic and idea with the contest or not.

Well that was nice of her. ^^

Thank you! I thought naming the fat dude "Fat man" might make people think he's a parody of Batman, but I couldn't resist naming him and the little flying kid after the nicknames of the atomic bombs dropped on Japan in WWII.

Fatman's underwear IS scary.

The design of the little flying boy is not mine (although his costume and pose is), but one of the administrators of the contest.

Incidentally, I lost this "Paper doll" contest before I even started it. We were supposed to draw costumes on the drawings (which were the paper dolls), not draw the characters and have costume designs on them. I'm bright as always.

One of the administrators, , was nice enough to add it to her favorites, though and complimented me on it.
