The Tsuchinoko is thought to be a symbol of wealth, as the muddy lands they inhabit contain ancient gold mines. However, they are extremely territorial, and will protect any plot of land they live in. Their fangs and spikes contain a deadly neurotoxin, and they have an inflatable sac on their back that when combined with their powerful legs allows them to fly out of the ground before landing and releasing a toxic smoke cloud.
Based on the tsuchinoko yokai, and mole rats.
