Making their DeviantART debut are the second and third DoomHunters: Dr. Yoshenstein & Crosscut!

"Most Yoshis are happy and peaceful, but one Yoshi was born with a dark mind. He picked up an interest in science and technology, but the more cheerful of his kind kept getting in the way of his studies. So, he left them to pursue his goals.

"The Yoshi was discovered by Team Rocket, and they employed him as part of their Science Team. He created new devices for them to capture large amounts of Pokémon, and also created or enhanced Pokémon by altering their DNA. The Rockets eventually gave him the nickname 'Dr. Yoshenstein'.

"One of Yoshenstein's earliest experiments was the enhancement of a Meowth's claws. He made this Meowth his assistant, and named him Crosscut.

"News of Dr. Yoshenstein reached Darkness, and he invaded Team Rocket's laboratories looking to make this Yoshi his partner in destruction. He accepted, since he'd been wanting to use his inventions for destructive purposes, and brought Crosscut with him.

"However, Darkness' invasion of the lab involved destroying a good deal of it, and Yoshenstein's other 'Poké-mutations' escaped into the wilderness. The three DoomHunters gave chase, hoping to use them as part of their army of destruction. But, they were stopped in their pursuit by the CodeHunters, who just happened to be in Kanto at the time. Realizing this interruption allowed the Pokémon to get away, the DoomHunters chose to retreat, leaving the CodeHunters with the knowledge that their enemies had grown by two."

Crosscut was easy to come up with. Originally, Neko's weapon was going to be enhanced claws, but then I gave him the katana and the claws idea went into creativity limbo until I came up with the DoomHunters. I don't know where his coat came from.

Yoshenstein's science and technology is meant as the opposite of the medieval-ish "sword and shield, bow and arrow" style that Ryo uses. I gave him a magnifying monocle because it gives him that mad scientist look, and otherwise I felt his face would be left lacking.
