"I'm a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm.
And the scars that mark my body, they're silver and gold."
-Lorde, "Yellow Flicker Beat"
This is the first piece I've been confident enough in to post since my tablet pen broke. ;w; It was done with a trackpad, so let me know if you like it or not.
A lot of people are afraid of this little baby Pearl because of her mannerisms, but I just...feel so bad for her. It's pretty fucking clear to me that White caused the crack in her face. how dare you hURT THIS PRECIOUS GEM WD
I theorize Pink Diamond and this Pearl didn't have the relationship a Pearl and her owner should, or that this Pearl wasn't suited for PD's needs, so White Diamond traded her own Pearl (our Pearl) for Pink's, seeing as Pearl was already "broken in" and would be able to perhaps keep Pink in line. However, White didn't like the way Pink's Pearl behaved, so instead of simply giving her away and getting a new Pearl like a sensible gem, she decided to telepathically control White Pearl (I headcanon that White's gem power is powerful telekinesis/telepathy), and prolonged exposure to the telepathy left a crack in her face. Yikes.
Then again, maybe since Yellow says White "has a temper," it could just be that White Pearl displeased her Diamond or was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Perhaps they have an abusive relationship (or abusive as far as Pearl-owner standards go, which...are way beyond our standards of what abusive is). This could also explain how robotic White Pearl is, as she is afraid of showing emotion or doing anything that could cause her Diamond to become upset.
Anyway, this was my little rant as to how White Pearl's cracked porcelain doll effect came to be. Enjoy.
