Hey guys. Since Superman Man of Steel is on the way I thought I would do my design of the Superman insignia. I never really liked the idea that it obviously looks like an "S" so I decided to give it a redesign. I don't know about most of you, but when I was a kid, my first exposure to Supes was the old Max Fleischer (July 19, 1883 – September 11, 1972) cartoons. I wanted to go in that direction but make something that visibly implied an "S" without actually being one. I wanted to communicate the idea that Lois looks at Superman's "House of El/Kryptonian symbol for hope" crest and mistakes it for an "S" thus naming him Superman. My approach was the following; take the most recognizable parts of the typographical anatomy of the famed "S" and re-communicate them through a geometrical outlet (i.e shapes) that merged with the shield. Let me know what you think!

P.S. I tried it with a yellow background but it just looked...odd.
