Description I had a really bad day yesterday and I got really upset because I just can't draw/paint digitally and I'm not familiar with using colours at all, so I decided to start learning, using scenes from series or films as reference, and it seems to be a good learning method. Did this in ~8 hours, using my medium sized wacom and Krita.
Baelfire from Once Upon a Time (because honestly, young Bae is the most adorable thing on the whole series)

Thank you ^^ (Outing the focus just sorta happened, because I was lazy to work on the details outside his face, or am I not supposed to tell things like this? )

Wow. For ur first attempt it's really good. I've been want to colour my pics digitally too but been to scared to, thinking I would butcher it.

But I guess it comes with taking the first step and trying and just experimenting.

Doing portraits of pretty actors is really helpful. I've learned a ton about colours and light doing just that and picking a subject that you love helps to keep you motivated. Don't give up, this is really good for a first attempt!

Thanks Yeah, after I calmed down I thought about how I am supposed to know what colour things are, if I've never really payed much attention to it? I mean I have some stuff done in colour, but it's not really... real. Skin is pink, shades are darker pink, and that's not really how it works. So I'm going to try to keep up this sort of thing, I hope it helps for future projects

Haha yeah, I first realized this myself when I was studying *gunnmgally 's work and this painting in particular: [link] I noticed there's grey in there and red and green and brown. I can really recommend opening paintings you are impressed with in Photoshop or whatever software you use, and picking up colours with the eyedrop tool, just to see what colours they are made of.

Yes, that would probably be a good strategy, since I already had a hard time accepting, that this face is mostly lilac with a little bit of bright yellow, I mean come on. That's normally the point where I decide that I should probably stick to charcoal, but I'm never going to move forward with that sort of attitude, right

Ah did that. If I'm injured or something, know that it's totally your fault. In a good way. Thanks for the encouragement
