Allow me to say a few words in the tree’s memory, she was there since the first episode, so warm and cozy, she gave Twilight a place to be, a place to live, a place to grow, she was a giver she allowed herself to be hollowed out just so Ponyville could have a library, she wasn’t the center of Ponyville but she may’ve been the heart, a place where egger ponies could go to learn about whatever they needed to learn about, a place where a young unicorn (later alicorn) and tiny baby dragon could live in a new simple life, and a place where twilight could experiment and attempt to discover the unknown (her lab). They say oaks are givers because they spread their branches to make shelter for all and there is no oak that proves that more than the golden oaks library! She was taken before her time, taken by the forces of evil, taken from Ponyville by a…. whatever he is, named Tirek! But let us not think of the ending… no let us focus on the life, the life of a tree but so much more, a library, a lab, and a home, let us remember the oak library tree that surely deserves to be known as Golden! And so it is with many tears that we, the bronies, and pegasisters of the world, lay you to rest after a life of giving we finally allow you to rest, FOREVER LOVED, THE GOLDEN OAKS LIBRARY!

Since Twilight is an Alicorn and (I assume) immortal, what she should do is plant a new tree at the same spot.

She's not immortal, they said she wont out live her friends so either their all going to be princess (take note in response to asking if Shinning and Cadance would have a kid they said 4 Alicorn's is more than enough) or she'll still live like a normal pony. Faust said Luna and Celestia are not immortal but they've lived so long because of their connections to the sun and moon.
