Description I am utterly displeased with this (fitting, as it is a self portrait) and decided to post it for no other reason than to show how I am constantly changing artistically, for better or worse.

Watercolor, gauche, 140 lb cotton.

I love this! It's so raw. How can you hate it? Perhaps in complete artist-mutilation, you've exposed just how great you can be!

Hey, thanks. You know, it's hanging next to my other recent work. The contrast between the two is hilarious. I'd say it's finally growing on me.

i want to hug you!! this horrible painting is probably the most expressive thing i've seen from you! you are awsome! it is perfect in it's uglyness. that awkward flower, those-puke green parts... everything is just perfectly awfull and it speaks out of every artists heart that has felt a path of thurst. it will go away!

In the midst of the ugliness, you want to hug me? Gee, thanks. But yeah, the more I stare at it in the corner of this bare room, it is indicative of what we artists have to deal with. Thanks for your words.

totally ^^! and this honest painting made me feel closer to your art and i've just seen on your frontpage that i am not watching you which is pretty strange to me since i have the feeling that i already faved half of your gallery over the time . funny that your hatepainting made me actually watch you ^^.

Raw expression can do that I suppose. "Hatepainting"! Haha. So tell me, do you have such pieces that seem to surface from time to time? What do you do with them? Pesky buggers, they are. As for my gallery, the earlier stuff is very...well, early. I seemed to have reached a point where there were the origins of my own style...perhaps disciplined technique? Do you think style is something permanent? Or is it healthier to change it up? I don't know, I feel that it's time to explore new mediums. Or at least, to begin looking at the creative process from a different approach.

oh i have such images. sometimes i feel like my minde is made of boundaries. it is impossible for me to draw something that doesn't reminde me of something else. everything has been there in one or another form and i feel like a radio getting many radiostations and waves that combine themselfs into a weird sound. for excample that painting you faved ... that "lover is an expressionist" came back after 6 years [link] i wrote about it in that journal. at that point i started to feel totally unproductive just like a mashine doing the same thing over and over again. like fanart for everything that passes my eyelense if you understand what i mean. and style... style is something strange... i think that it is like a handwriting why always write the same way when you can use different typos? some similarities remain and make the soul of your art, but that lavle "style" shouldn't cut down your ceative flow. if it remains it should remain but if it want to go on... why stop it? i use way too many different mediums XD. one thing just gets boring over the time! i esp enjoy the possibility of jumping between digital and traditional .

it's a real dilemma - the style problem - as long as it's regarded as a problem. There's something badly going wrong when you start feeling limited by yourself. I like my early stuff, looking at it feels like reading a diary (mhm.. though- that's very individual... some people like to burn their diaries every now and then... you could be one of that kind)
Briefly: Do what you feel like doing.

Well, you two...I was able to make something after our last exchange. I think, because I've been on the road so much, and never having an opportunity to be in my own space limits me too. After 2 years of traveling, I finally settled into my new home in Zion National Park. It's an 86 year-old sandstone house that is supposedly haunted. Anyway, the energy from the natural beauty around me, living somewhere for once in beautiful solitude helped me this time around. Stay tuned...I will post my next painting in a few. It's in oil! Which is also interesting...maybe I needed to try a new medium.
