Shot through a telescope. No lens. I am pretty sure this one was shot at ISO100.

Looks great.

Is this 1/1 size from the frame or cropped? Love to see the full size! I need to catch up with my mate with his array of telescopes again for a new try at getting a better shot of the moon than what I have so far.

Its a full frame shot no cropping needed. The telescope I have puts me pretty close. I used a 1.4X teleconverter between the scope and camera to push it a bit more. aproximately 1400mm with the converter. I hope this summer to do a long exposure of the milky way with a piggyback mount. It attaches the camera and lens to the top of the scope insted of through it. With this you can take advantage of the tracking capability of the scope and freeze the stars in place to get a very well exposed photo of the galaxy wothout star trailing. Im sure you have seen examples in astronomy books etc. using this technique. If you have a friend with telescopes definately look into this too. I tried many times to get a shot like yours with my 300mm at night with no success getting proper exposure without blur. Thanks for the comment!

my mate is an astrophysicist so when he was working for a telescope shop we had free run at night to play with big scopes and she does a lot of tracking shots using a really interesting web cam set-up.

Thats gotta be nice. I had to buy mine just to I could look through one. :/ If I get any good ones this summer I will post them. But for now it is still below 0 at night. Lucky You!

0 *C or 0*F? It's hot enough here at nearly 1am to need airconditioning.

0 degrees F. Looks like neither of us are so lucky then.
